It’s important to replace a broken dental filling right away. Otherwise, you may experience complications that require more extensive work, such as a crown or root canal.
A Dental Crown Comes Loose or Falls Out
If you’ve ever cracked a tooth or developed a cavity that was too big for a filling, then you probably had a dental crown placed for support. A crown is essentially a cap for a tooth held in place by a strong adhesive.
Your crown could get loose or fall out if the adhesive breaks down or you develop a problem with the tooth below it. Our dentists will evaluate the crown and the supporting tooth. Depending on what we find, we will decide whether to reinstall the crown or contact a dental lab to create a new one.
A Dental Implant Gets Damaged or Starts to Wiggle Around
A dental implant is the longest-lasting tooth replacement option. Because the titanium post bonds with your jawbone, it can remain in place for the rest of your life.
Despite their high success rate, implants do fail from time to time. It’s also possible to damage the replacement tooth or implant-supported denture.
